About the role

The Director of Software Engineering will lead the modernization of Fidelity’s authorization platform into cloud-native solutions, ensuring Tier-0 reliability and 24×7 availability. This role sits within the Shared Services Engineering team, which builds and operates secure, scalable authorization systems. The ideal candidate will combine deep cloud expertise with a track record of leading agile teams to drive operational excellence and deliver integrated solutions in close partnership with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the modernization of authorization components from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
  • Champion best practices in system design, development, and operations.
  • Align engineering efforts with business priorities and collaborate across teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions that enhance security and operational scalability.
  • Influence strategic backlog prioritization decisions related to BRT Application Solutions Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field and at least 12 years of experience in software and cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Hands-on experience handling incident and problem management for Tier-0 platforms.
  • Proven expertise leveraging AWS cloud services to architect and deliver cloud-native systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Preferred experience in retail financial markets or another highly regulated industry.
