About the role

The Global Software Leader for Acute Products/Devices at Vantive is responsible for leading a multi-site device software engineering team for Acute Care products. This role involves defining and driving software strategy and implementation, and delivering to all Acute Care product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Own product-line software strategy and roadmaps for device software for all acute products; aligning with business and product strategy and therapy needs.
  • Lead Acute global device software team, including functional managers and technical leaders.
  • Lead defining and implementing technology and software architecture strategy working with Acute device software leaders and in collaboration with systems leaders.
  • Lead Acute global device software team in building execution plans and driving execution to deliver to the product roadmaps and releases across all Acute product lines.
  • Create, effectively communicate, and realize vision and strategy for the organization that aligns with the business and customer needs.
  • Establish an organization structure that ensures clear accountability and operational excellence.
  • Develop and mentor high-performing managers and technical leaders; build succession plans and communities of practice across global sites.
  • Provide strategic planning leadership for resource staffing and project execution with proactive management of technical and project risk to ensure delivery of business commitments.
  • Drive post-market software change management strategy, field data analytics, and reliability improvements with contained risk and minimal therapy disruption.
  • Embrace and embed agile ways of working in support of a fail-fast-learn-fast culture and enabling continual improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment with strong working relationships within and across businesses and functions, and with strategic external partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development (medical product development, design, safety, Cyber Security) to ensure compliance in all research, development, data collection and reporting activities.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in Electro-mechanical devices and device software engineering.
  • Understanding of global regulatory requirements for medical devices; risk and reliability concepts for development; and the need to deliver quality products and/or processes.
  • Significant experience leading a globally distributed team and working in a global matrix environment.
  • Strong team building and talent management skills, and the ability to motivate team members to achieve goals.
  • Proven experience in driving product specific and overall portfolio strategy, specific to software technology, in a global business.
  • Recognized internally and externally as expert in functional area.
  • Strategic, innovative problem solver, and have strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across Clinical, RA/QA, Systems, Operations, and suppliers.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience in medical devices or other safety‑critical electromechanical domains (e.g., aerospace, industrial controls, automotive) required; medical device experience strongly preferred.

Pay

The estimated base salary for this position is $200,000 - $275,000 annually.
