About the role

As the Global Software Leader for Acute Products/Devices, you will lead a multi-site device software engineering team for Acute Care products by defining and driving software strategy and implementation, delivering across all Acute Care product lines. In collaboration with commercial, systems, program management, Quality & Regulatory functional leadership teams, you will build and execute on product strategy, roadmaps, and delivery plans.

Responsibilities

  • Own product-line software strategy and roadmaps for device software for all acute products, aligning with business and product strategy and therapy needs.
  • Lead the Acute global device software team, including functional managers and technical leaders.
  • Define and implement technology and software architecture strategy in collaboration with Acute device software leaders and systems leaders.
  • Build execution plans and drive execution to deliver to the product roadmaps and releases across all Acute product lines.
  • Create, communicate, and realize a vision and strategy for the organization that aligns with business and customer needs.
  • Establish an organization structure ensuring clear accountability and operational excellence.
  • Develop and mentor high-performing managers and technical leaders; build succession plans and communities of practice across global sites.
  • Provide strategic planning leadership for resource staffing and project execution with proactive management of technical and project risk to ensure delivery of business commitments.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of technology, process, therapy domains, user needs, hazards, risk, and business targets to drive solutions and product design realization.
  • Manage technical and project risk to ensure delivery of business commitments.
  • Drive post-market software change management strategy, field data analytics, and reliability improvements with contained risk and minimal therapy disruption.
  • Embrace and embed agile ways of working to support a fail-fast-learn-fast culture and enable continual improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment with strong working relationships within and across businesses, functions, and strategic external partners.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to medical product development, design, safety, and cybersecurity to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in electro-mechanical devices and device software engineering.
  • Understanding of global regulatory requirements for medical devices, including risk and reliability concepts for development, and the need to deliver quality products and processes.
  • Significant experience leading a globally distributed team and working in a global matrix environment.
  • Strong team building and talent management skills, with the ability to motivate team members to achieve goals.
  • Proven experience in driving product-specific and overall portfolio strategy, specifically in software technology, within a global business.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific/technical disciplines and related areas such as regulatory, quality, and product development.
  • Recognized internally and externally as an expert in your functional area.
  • Strategic, innovative problem solver with strong influencing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across Clinical, RA/QA, Systems, Operations, and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience in medical devices or other safety-critical electromechanical domains (e.g., aerospace, industrial controls, automotive) required; medical device experience strongly preferred.

Pay

The estimated base salary for this position is $200,000 - $275,000 annually. The range reflects an anticipated salary range, and actual pay may vary based on market data, location, skills, expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
