Director, Software Engineer (Global Payment Network)
About the Role
As a Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful microservices, to back-end Java-based systems and machine learning models using the latest techniques in Big Data. The Global Payment Network (GPN) Technology organization designs, builds, and operates the mission-critical systems and infrastructure that seamlessly power complex money movement across domestic and international rails. We build and operate a high-volume, low-latency, and highly resilient distributed ecosystem that is simultaneously secure, performant, accurate, and nimble. Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
- Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
- Bring a passion for staying on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
- Work across teams to improve the velocity of your own and other teams
- Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
- Break down existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in people management
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering
- 5+ years of experience in Agile practices
- Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion
Skills
Solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as:

Pay
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location:
- Houston, TX: $244,700 - $279,200
- McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200
- Plano, TX: $244,700 - $279,200
- Riverwoods, IL: $244,700 - $279,200
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
