Director, Software Development, Builder Operations, Amazon SW Builder Experience
About the role
Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX), launched in 2022, aims to make Amazon the best place to build software, providing tools, technology, training, and community for hundreds of thousands of software builders. The team is shifting from performing every step of software development to supervising agents that perform those steps, owning the experience that enables this transition while empowering builders to apply their expertise to invent more for customers. We are seeking a Director of Software Development to lead Builder Operations (“Builder Ops”), the organization that builds the technology, tools, and services Amazon teams use to practice DevOps across AWS, Retail, Devices, and beyond—including incident management, change management in production, and feedback loops that turn operational learnings into better software. Builder Ops operates one of the largest incident‑management and DevOps platforms in the industry, with most issues now resolved faster and safely using AI. The role owns the strategic priority of shifting to agentic operations: defining how humans and agents collaborate at Amazon’s safety bar at dramatically higher speed while maintaining reliability.
