About the role
As AMD grows, growing our leadership in systems engineering expertise is essential for all the new products in the AMD pipeline. In this high-visibility role, you will translate business goals into cutting-edge product and system features that meet those requirements, making a significant impact in AMD’s Server business and the direction of the Data Center industry.
The leader of the Server Platform and Systems Engineering team advises our strategy, partnerships, engineering development teams, and global system development, system solutions, and customer engineering teams to deliver new and innovative system features to AMD product and systems. You will drive forward-looking capabilities into our products, software, firmware, ecosystem, and ultimately, shipping customer server systems. Responsibilities include driving cohesive strategy and plans, hiring teams, and delivering innovation in data center capabilities and user features.
You will be part of the Server Platform and Systems Engineering Validation team, reporting to the Senior Director of Functional Validation. This role offers the opportunity to lead the Systems/Platform team as they collaborate with Silicon Designers/Architects, Firmware, Core Functional Validation, Software, and Customer Engineering teams to bring products to market. You will have the latitude to innovate and be a change leader in AMD’s fastest-growing business segment.
This is a highly visible role providing interaction with AMD’s senior leadership team. You will lead a team comprising Principal Members of Technical Staff, Senior Managers, and other key technical leads, covering CPU post-silicon validation planning through silicon bring-up to production. The role is cross-functional, requiring technical depth, breadth, and strong leadership skills. We seek a seasoned leader with system-level and debug experience to elevate test methodologies and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Systems/Platform team in collaboration with Silicon Designers, Architects, Firmware, Core Functional Validation, Software, and Customer Engineering teams.
- Drive strategy and innovation for data center capabilities and user features in server systems.
- Oversee system-level validation and other validation functions for next-generation EPYC server CPU products.
- Develop and grow technical teams, including Principal Members of Technical Staff and Senior Managers.
- Manage CPU post-silicon validation planning, silicon bring-up, and production.
- Enhance test methodologies and scalability through system-level and debug experience.
- Collaborate across teams to push the boundaries of validation and drive innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field; Master’s Degree (MS) preferred.
- Extensive experience in silicon and system validation within the semiconductor or systems industry.
- Strong knowledge of silicon/system validation methodologies.
- Prior experience leading managers and technical leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and grow technical teams.
- Understanding of HW/FW/SW interaction and system-level design.
- Experience with test generators and AI in test plan/content development and debug throughput.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including presenting to senior executives.
- Proven initiative in driving projects and getting things done.
