Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate, timely and compliant SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K/Q, Forms 8-K, earnings releases, proxy, registration statements, and other critical filings.
- Review and complete consolidation of global results for the Company’s subsidiaries.
- Ensure accuracy of financial information communicated externally, including through investor and rating agency presentations.
- Direct accounting for the Company’s stock compensation programs worldwide.
- Establish accounting policies and analyze and implement new FASB and SEC rules, regulations, and interpretations.
- Review significant new partnerships, contracts, new products/services, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, and novel situations for the appropriate accounting, valuation, and integration planning considerations.
- Responsible for valuation of intangible assets such as goodwill, software, and customer relationships, including the related impairment testing.
- Financial Reporting:
- 10-K / 10-Q / Earnings release, earnings script, and slides
- Supporting schedules and Board/Audit Committee quarterly reporting
- Global consolidations, eliminations, translation
- Equity accounting, including stock compensation, repurchases, and dividends
- Non-GAAP reporting and reconciliations
- Proxy and annual shareholder report tie-out and pay vs. performance calculation
- IFRS stock compensation accounting and reporting
- Corporate financial statement audit support
- Oracle and HFM software upgrades – planning, test cases, UAT
- Debt offerings’ registration statements and prospectus
- Technical Accounting:
- Accounting for new products, services, and initiatives, such as digital wallets, prepaid cards, stablecoins
- Accounting for new contracts with agents/partners
- Accounting for novel situations such as restructurings and variable interest entities
- Software capitalization review and approval
- Hedge accounting review and approval for the company’s foreign currency and interest rate hedging programs
- Business combination and divestiture accounting and valuation
- Financial due diligence related to prospective M&A activity
- Impairment reviews for the company’s equity method and cost method investments
- Impairment testing for intangible assets such as trademarks, software, contract costs and goodwill
- Borrowing activity including bond offerings, debt refinancings and extinguishments
- Ownership of the company’s global accounting policies
- Implementation of new accounting pronouncements
- Accounting and reporting for employee benefit plans (401K, ESPP, etc.)
Requirements
- 8 or more years of relevant technical accounting and SEC reporting experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in effectively setting priorities, managing multiple staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred.
- Deep technical understanding of US GAAP including revenue recognition, hedge accounting, lease accounting, business combinations, fair value principles, and impairments of long-lived assets.
- History of problem-solving, technical decision-making, communication, and diplomacy skills.
- Knowledge of financial systems.
- Intermediate ability to analyze working processes for potential efficiencies and help implement automated solutions.
- Advanced ability to work with multiple departments and multiple management levels.
- Strong communication skills, including ability to influence others and work effectively across geographies and functions, as well as to clearly and concisely present findings at all levels of the organization.
Schedule
HYBRID - Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
