About the role

We're seeking a Director, Scientific Communications to help expand possibilities for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Global Medical Lead, this role will lead global Medical Communications Strategy and align with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, HEOR, Clinical Development, Advocacy, Commercial, and Market Access.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of global medical communication strategy and education plan, including congress strategies, symposia, field medical tools and resources, medical backgrounders, and other scientific programs.
  • Review scientific materials and represent content during medical, legal, and regulatory reviews.
  • Manage external vendors and provide clear, concise direction.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, fair-balanced, scientifically/clinically accurate medical communications deliverables in alignment with business strategy, medical affairs strategy, and Insmed clinical development programs.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of scientific platforms, scientific narrative lexicon, and Insmed Medical Communications plan, including digital plans for the respiratory therapeutic area and product.
  • Collaborate with external experts and authors to drive the planning and execution of scientific communications deliverables across assigned therapeutic areas.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, primarily in Medical Affairs.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant guidance including PhRMA guidelines and CME Open Payments reporting.
  • Experience in designing and implementing Medical Communication Strategies, including oversight to gap analyses, congress strategies, scientific content development, digital asset generation, and scientific platform development and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to interpret and organize complex scientific data, including reviewing pre-clinical and clinical trial data and output from statistical analyses.
  • Experience leading scientific communications strategy in alignment with corporate strategy and working closely with external experts and authors.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience and demonstrated success in the design and implementation of Medical Communication Strategies.
  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) preferred.
  • Prior pre-launch/launch experience preferred.

Skills

  • Expertise in the assessment and application of scientific/clinical data to strategy with pull-through to externally facing deliverables.
  • Leadership experience in designing scientific communications strategy in alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Experience working closely with external experts and authors.
  • Ability to manage external vendors and provide clear, concise direction.

Pay

$185,000.00 - $252,500.00 Annual

Schedule

This is a fully remote role. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected. Travel Requirements: Approximately 15% domestic travel.
