Director, Sales Engineering - SLED

About the role
We are seeking a Director of Sales Engineering – SLED to provide strategic, technical, and people leadership for the Sales Engineering organization across a defined region. This role operates at scale, setting direction rather than executing individual deals, and is accountable for talent development, technical excellence, customer impact, and alignment with Cohesity’s long-term vision.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Sales Engineering managers and teams, building a strong culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and customer focus, including teams supporting public sector and healthcare customers
- Define and execute the regional Sales Engineering strategy aligned to Cohesity’s Data Security and cyber resilience portfolio, tailored to SLED and healthcare verticals with segment-specific requirements and funding considerations
- Ensure consistent, high-quality presales engagement across the region, including technical discovery, demonstrations, workshops, and proofs of concept, aligned to complex regulatory and compliance-driven buying environments
- Act as a senior technical advisor for complex, high-value engagements, influencing long-term architecture, cyber resilience strategies, and solutions aligned to public sector and healthcare regulatory frameworks
- Provide executive oversight for RFPs, RFIs, and strategic proposals, ensuring differentiated technical positioning and effective navigation of public sector procurement processes and contract vehicles
- Partner closely with Sales leadership to support pipeline growth and deal execution, including long-cycle, multi-year SLED and healthcare opportunities aligned to budget timing and funding cycles
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Channel, and Professional Services to ensure solutions meet customer requirements, including compliance with frameworks such as HIPAA, CJIS, FERPA, and state-level mandates
- Build and enable partner ecosystem alignment, working with system integrators and public-sector-focused partners to scale solution delivery and technical reach
- Establish operating rhythms, technical standards, and governance to scale the Sales Engineering organization effectively while ensuring consistency across regulated verticals
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading Sales Engineering managers and teams in a competitive technology environment, including experience supporting SLED and/or healthcare segments
- Deep expertise in enterprise security, cyber resilience, ransomware recovery, and compliance landscapes, including public sector and healthcare regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CJIS, FERPA, etc.)
- Strong understanding of presales methodologies and the ability to scale technical engagement across complex, compliance-driven environments
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders (CIO, CISO, CTO) and guide long-term technical strategy within multi-stakeholder public sector and regulated enterprise environments
- Experience supporting complex, high-value opportunities involving RFP/RFI processes, procurement constraints, and multi-year funding models typical in SLED
- Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally and align global teams around shared goals in highly matrixed organizations
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM
Qualifications
- Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate complex technical and strategic concepts clearly to senior audiences
- Willingness to travel as required to support strategic customers, partners, and global team development
Benefits
Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate's skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.
Pay
$268,800.00-$336,000.00 The compensation noted above is based on an annualized hourly rate assuming normal full-time employment. Current pay transparency shows the OTE (On-Target Earnings) for commission-based roles.

In-Office Expectations
Cohesity employees who are within a reasonable commute (e.g. within a forty-five (45) minute average travel time) work out of our core offices 2-3 days a week of their choosing.
