About the role

Playfly Sports is seeking a Director, Sales and Service to lead all ticket sales and service operations at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). As department head, you will manage the sale of season tickets, upgrades, add-ons, group tickets, partial/mini-plan packages, single-game tickets, and donations to the Athletic Department. This role involves directing ticket sales for all ticketed sports to generate new revenue, servicing existing accounts, managing Aspire staff, and meeting individual sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a diverse sales and service team, fostering an inclusive environment where every team member feels valued
  • Monitor, manage, and evaluate staff performance; establish and communicate clear sales revenue and training goals with ongoing feedback
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and retain staff for future succession within the department and Playfly Aspire Group
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Discrimination, and Harassment policies
  • Run day-to-day operations of the Fan Relationship Management Center profitably while exceeding revenue and customer service expectations
  • Act as the principal liaison between Playfly Aspire Group and the athletic department
  • Develop and execute an approved annual business plan, sales plan, and operating budget
  • Design, present, and communicate ticket sales strategies, procedures, and processes
  • Identify, explore, and research new sales opportunities, including target markets for season ticket and group sales
  • Develop the ticket sales program in areas such as new business generation, sales leadership, strategy development, training, best practices, and results tracking/reporting
  • Provide recommendations on marketing, promotions, sales strategies, and community ticket/sampling programs
  • Track and report daily, weekly, and monthly sales figures and accountability reports
  • Handle accounting, partner invoicing, commission reporting, and staff timecard/payroll approval
  • Assist with the creation, planning, communication, and implementation of special ticket plans, projects, promotions, and programs
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of sports ticket sales experience, with at least 2 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Experience with ticketing software (Paciolan) and CRM programs preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills; ability to engage with executives, staff, and fans at all levels
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Schedule

  • Available to work athletic events, including home games and special events during evenings and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light office items
  • Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office environment
  • May require occasional travel

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $70,000 – $73,000 USD. Actual compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location.
