About the role

The Director, Risk Management Services is responsible for housewide risk management functions including management of the insurance portfolio and clinical risk management. This position oversees Huntington Hospital and Pasadena Hospital Association claims, including professional/general liability, Director’s and Officer’s liability, employment liability, auto liability, and other business exposures. The Director works closely to support and enhance patient safety and environment of care safety management functions, collaborating with leadership, medical staff, and employees to identify, analyze, and evaluate risk to reduce the frequency and severity of events that may impact patient safety or financial loss. Flexibility of hours is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the hospital’s insurance portfolio and clinical risk management programs.
  • Oversee claims for professional/general liability, Director’s and Officer’s liability, employment liability, auto liability, and other business exposures.
  • Support and enhance patient safety and environment of care safety management functions.
  • Collaborate with leadership, medical staff, and employees to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks.
  • Reduce the frequency and severity of events impacting patient safety or financial loss.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in health or legal field or JD preferred.
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in healthcare risk management, management, or administration.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) required.
  • Current Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present to large groups.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers, staff, legal counsel, and physicians.

Pay

The estimated base rate for this position is $181,084.80 - $262,558.40. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc.
