The Opportunity
As a leader in digital financial services, Ally’s customer and employee experiences are powered by Data and Artificial Intelligence. We are seeking a Director of Responsible AI to design, operationalize, and advance AI governance principles and best practices at scale. This individual will translate policy and risk requirements into practical, reusable patterns, tooling, and metrics that accelerate safe adoption, embedding Responsible AI into every stage of AI use case and model development so we can operate with confidence and efficiency at scale.
This individual will align under the Enterprise Data and AI (EDA) organization at Ally. The Work Itself
- Create and continuously improve an enterprise-wide Responsible AI Framework, ensuring AI adoption is innovative, trustworthy, and reflects the latest regulatory guidance
- Act as a 1.5 Line of Defense, partnering closely with AI Governance, Model Governance, and AI/Model/Data Science Development Teams to embed ethics, compliance, and best practices into AI development and deployment initiatives
- Support enterprise partners to design AI initiatives within AI framework guardrails, leveraging reusable trusted patterns and practical guidance to enable well-designed solutions to move efficiently from idea to implementation
- Lead workstreams, drive alignment, create clarity, and build consensus across technical and non-technical stakeholders, acting as a senior individual contributor expert for Responsible AI
- Establish repeatable processes, control expectations, and guidance that scale without losing rigor and that promote a risk-tiered approach to AI guardrails
- Operate as a trusted advisor to business, technology, and risk partners for enabling responsible AI across AI use cases
Skills

- Minimum qualifications: 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Preferred Qualifications: Responsible AI Execution Experience, translating Responsible AI regulatory expectations (including SR 11-7 and SR 26-2) into practical requirements, processes, and guidance, Experience building reusable risk and control frameworks to promote consistency and scalability across the enterprise and/or performing AI risk assessments, Experience embedding governance requirements, monitoring, and control evidence into repeatable AI delivery processes, Experience contributing to policies, standards, training, and communications that improve AI risk fluency and clarify AI delivery responsibilities, 3+ years of experience in Responsible AI, AI Risk Management, and/or Model Validation in financial services, AI / ML Delivery & Technical Expertise, Deep working knowledge of AI delivery lifecycle from hands-on AI use case delivery, Experience building and/or governing lower-risk data analytic initiatives, material AI/ML models, generative AI applications, and customer-facing use cases, 5+ years of experience delivering data science / machine learning / generative AI initiatives, Master's or Doctorate degree in relevant field, Experience related to generative AI evaluation / monitoring tools like Galileo or Fiddler
How We'll Have Your Back
- Base Pay Range: $125000 - $190000 USD
- An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
- Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
