Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and operational oversight for the UAB Research Computing System, which includes compute platforms, storage systems, research networking, and other associated cyberinfrastructure.
- Collaborates with enterprise IT colleagues to leverage expertise as needed to support the university's research ecosystem.
- Ledds and/or directs large cyberinfrastructure projects, working across teams and functions as needed.
- Contributes to developing solutions for protecting both open access and regulated research data, including adherence to all applicable regulations such as HIPAA and FISMA.
- Affords assistance in annual development and oversight of departmental budget and leads the annual equipment inventory process.
- Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends and oversees the development of application solutions.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Biological or Medical Science, Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience in research computing and high performance computing.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
- Experience managing research computing services and teams.
- Advanced knowledge of research computing systems, software, and practices.
Qualifications
- Ability to be a self-starter.
- Advanced knowledge of systems, software and process to provide cyberinfrastructure to support research.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.
Pay
$126,470 - $205,515 annually.
