About the role
The Director of Regulatory Affairs serves as a strategic leader for the Americas zone, bridging the gap between complex legislation and high-stakes business growth. Key responsibilities include regulatory compliance excellence, strategic horizon scanning, regulatory advocacy and representation, stakeholder synergy, and crisis leadership.
Responsibilities
- Direct the strategy to ensure all products comply with local, country, and federal regulations across the Americas zone.
- Proactively monitor shifts in the regulatory landscape and develop formal action plans to meet compliance deadlines.
- Act as a technical authority before external stakeholders and authorities, including the FDA and CARB, to defend L’Oréal’s policies and support the launch of disruptive new projects.
- Develop and maintain a strong interface between U.S.-based R&I and Business divisions, serving as a key partner and subject matter expert for Country/Zone Scientific Directors.
- Partner with the Department Head to define functional direction, drive critical cross-disciplinary projects, and ensure the team’s skills are aligned with regional needs.
- Independently lead the management of complex or fluid regulatory crisis situations, utilizing grounded judgment to protect the brand’s integrity and business continuity.
- Oversee and support regulatory compliance activities specifically related to innovative packaging solutions.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required. An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is highly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Regulatory Affairs within the cosmetic, fragrance, OTC, or consumer healthcare industries.
- Proven track record in project management and a global vision of the regulatory profession.
- Experience with packaging regulatory requirements is a significant plus.
- Expertise in independently monitoring and communicating on emerging legislation.
- Ability to autonomously summarize complex regulatory initiatives for senior business audiences.

Pay
$126,900 - $184,000 base salary range, depending on a variety of job-related factors including geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
Schedule
The ability to be onsite, in the office at least 3 days a week is an essential function of the position.
