Director Radiology
Location: Avera St Luke's Hospital
About the role
Accountable for directing the operation of the Radiology department, its personnel and its affiliated clinic's radiology personnel.
Responsibilities
- Integrates Departmental services into the organization’s primary functions.
- Develops and updates policies and procedures consistent with organization’s policies ensuring that department meets JCAHO, CMS, NRC, MQSA and ACR standards; makes changes to meet state and federal requirements including safety standards.
- Participates in the System’s Radiology Service Line and participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or organization.
- Stays abreast of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, equipment and methods.
- Responsible for determining new programs and their development.
- Directs procurement of supplies and equipment in coordinator with Supply chain and assures proper storage and utilization of those items.
- Establishes fiscal plans for the departments and operates within its parameters.
- Continually assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided by the department.
- Counsels, trains, and develops employees.
- Conducts regular department meetings and education in-services for all staff.
- Captures marketing plans for services offered in conjunction with Avera Marketing.
- Operates specialized equipment to produce diagnostic information.
- Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
Requirements
The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Qualifications
- Technical Certificate Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent specialty
- Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) - Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC)
- Bachelor's Nuclear Medicine Technology, Business, Management or related field
- Preferred: Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Certified MRI Technologist - American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) - Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC)
- Management or supervisory experience
Skills
Required: Visual acuity, communication, hearing, understanding and distinguishing speech and other sounds.
