About the role

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Professional Development, Innovation and Research to advance our mission of delivering innovative, compassionate nursing care. This pivotal role provides strategic, operational, and fiscal leadership for all facets of the Professional Development, Innovation and Research Department, ensuring positive learning experiences for the healthcare community as well as promoting the sharing of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations of the Professional Development, Innovation and Research Department, including the development and evaluation of educational programming.
  • Create and promote an environment conducive to teamwork and performance improvement; actively participate in meetings and projects to improve quality service.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all nursing division employees receive a comprehensive orientation and evaluate the orientation process on a regular basis.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support professional development, innovation, and research initiatives.
  • In conjunction with Senior Nursing management, develop an education agenda to support the strategic plan.
  • Coordinate new programs to help in the development of staff at RWJBarnabas Health System.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to meet regulatory, accreditation, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Oversee budget development and financial stewardship, optimizing resource allocation without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Active New Jersey RN license.
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Nursing; DNP or PhD in nursing strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent nursing leadership within an acute care setting, including strategic planning, performance improvement, policy development, research, analytics, benchmarking, and report writing.
  • Experience preferably within a large health system or academic medical center.
