Your New Role

CNN is looking for a Director of Product Management, AI Platforms, to lead a team of product managers and own a portfolio of high-impact AI platform investments.

Role Accountabilities

  • Own and evolve the AI editorial product vision and roadmap, translating editorial ambition into a sequenced, prioritized plan with clear outcomes rather than a task list.

  • Define the use-case portfolio across the format taxonomy, from simple transformations to multimodal and assembled experiences, and determine sequencing and prioritization.

  • Tie every investment to a clear business outcome, and bring rigor to the portfolio, adjusting priorities based on performance and opportunity.

  • Serve as the connective tissue between editorial, consumer, and platforms teams working on AI initiatives. Build strong relationships across editorial, standards, platform, and engineering, aligning partners who do not report to you.

  • Evaluation, Quality & Governance

    • Own the governance horizontal for AI editorial product, including accuracy thresholds, disclosure, attribution, rights, provenance, and permissioning.

    • Partner with AI enablement organizations across CNN and Warner Bros. Discovery at large, to align on shared platforms, standards, and governance.

  • Discovery & Prioritization

    • Lead with user-need discovery and validation, earning the newsroom’s trust without disrupting live workflows.

    • Identify and improve the processes that help multiple teams work better, and expand from org-wide influence to cross-org strategic leadership.

    • Act as a trusted partner in helping teams leverage AI capabilities to move faster and deliver higher-impact, higher-trust outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years in product management with a proven track record of delivering innovative consumer-facing products.

  • 3+ years working with AI/ML technologies, including experience with large language models, recommendation systems, or generative interfaces.

  • Proven ability to lead multiple product areas and teams, delivering measurable business outcomes in complex environments.

  • Direct experience with AI and machine learning products, including LLMs, retrieval and RAG, evaluation and quality measurement, and model and platform tradeoffs, with the ability to hold a credible technical conversation with platform and ML engineers.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • Exceptional communication skills, especially in translating technical complexity into stakeholder-aligned narratives.

  • Deep empathy for news consumers and a sharp editorial sense; passion for making news more accessible, relevant, and impactful.

  • Experience working in a mission-driven or regulated environment (media, health, education, etc.) is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with editorial standards and AI governance is a plus.
