About the role
The Director of Process Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and continuous improvement across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader will oversee the development and implementation of new technologies and methodologies that enhance product quality, food safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Drive innovation and technological advancements in process design, scale-up, and efficiency optimization.
- Lead the design, testing, and validation of new processes, ensuring scalability and commercial viability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce and refine innovative processing solutions, leveraging data-driven insights.
- Analyze complex process challenges using statistical modeling, AI-driven process optimization, and advanced problem-solving methodologies.
- Champion process innovation, influencing and leading cross-functional teams to shape the future of process engineering and set standards for high-performance manufacturing.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in process engineering, specializing in R&D-driven process design, scale-up, and optimization.
- Strong foundation in continuous improvement methodologies such as TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, and DOE.
- Expertise in using tools like Big Data Analytics (BDA), 5S, Kaizen, RCA, and FMECA to identify process inefficiencies and drive performance optimization.
- Experience in scaling up emerging technologies from pilot plant to full commercial production.
- Proficiency in advanced process controls, including smart manufacturing, AI, and real-time process monitoring.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Strategic mindset, capable of translating technical insights into actionable business decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, adept at engaging with executive leadership, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and manage costs, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% to engage with R&D centers, pilot plants, manufacturing facilities, and global innovation partners.
- Proven track record of leading complex process transformations and collaborating across engineering, quality, safety, and operations.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with process simulation software and data analytics tools.
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and food safety standards.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
