About the role
The PMO Processes and Tools Director is a senior-level position responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining project management methodologies, standards, and tools. This role involves strategic planning, project governance, and resource management to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Specifically, this role is responsible for maintaining Portfolio Prioritization Management Tools (PPM) and managing key project activation and resourcing requirements.
Cross-functionally, you will focus on executing enterprise-wide programs through planning and implementation. You will communicate progress and maintain visibility with regular updates to key business stakeholders and the Copeland executive team. As the connection point between the business, global program teams, and the internal communications team, you ensure holistic change communication. This role requires a self-starter who thrives in a team and matrix environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning efforts and define project management methodologies, ensuring adherence to standardized best practices and organizational policies.
- Allocate resources across projects based on priorities, schedules, and budgets, including investing in project management software and archiving project data.
- Analyze and roll out PMO tools for planning, managing, and tracking projects, including conducting training for project management staff.
- Monitor project progress and compliance with organizational standards, reporting performance to the executive team and conducting performance reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a related industry position; program management experience is acceptable.
- Experience maturing a PMO and implementing PMO best practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading lean/operational excellence initiatives.
- High emotional intelligence, influencing skills, and communication skills to collaborate with senior executive stakeholders.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including problem-solving, data analysis, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Proven track record in building cross-functional relationships and influencing others at different organizational levels.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, and presentation skills with experience breaking down complex business problems into structured approaches.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, particularly with senior executives across various geographies.
- Passion for building new capabilities and functions from the ground up.
- Flexibility and resilience to change and ambiguity.
- Entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently with limited information.
- Commitment to ethical solutions, even when they are not the easiest.
- PMP Certification.
Schedule
This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in the office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration-first mindset, adjusting hybrid days based on business needs.
