Director, People and Culture
Position Summary
The Director of People & Culture serves as a leader, mentor and advisor to the organization, providing expertise and direction related to people and culture practices and strategies. The Director ensures the functional discipline of human resources is delivered in a way to ensure achievement of WesleyLife’s people strategies in full alignment with WesleyLife’s overall strategies and objectives. Key priorities are culture-building, team member wellbeing, organizational compliance and the delivery of total rewards aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. This position will lead or be involved in the implementation of people and culture priorities across the full spectrum of human resources and will partner with the P&C and Operations teams to accomplish broad people goals.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
People Operations
Leads the delivery of team member & leadership support across the organization with a focus on shaping a culture which attracts, retains and grows people.
Partners effectively with leadership within the organization to build WesleyLife’s HR capabilities through metrics, systems, communication and training.Provides hands-on management and consultation of day-to-day HR functions, including mentoring a high-performance People & Culture team.
Serves as an internal consultant to leaders across the organization including but not limited to strategies, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and legal issues.
May participate in investigations related to compliance issues or concerns, where needed.Establishes appropriate compliance auditing and monitoring of the organization’s practices to ensure organizational-wide compliance.
Completes and reports key performance indicators for the HR function, including but not limited to retention, engagement, salary and benefits expenses, efficiency metrics.Collaborates with the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) and operations around labor management / staffing models, benefits, and related expenses to ensure we are meeting budget goals.
People & Culture Strategies
Participates in the development and planning of strategies under the leadership of the CPCO and in collaboration with the People & Culture Leadership team.
Uses current data from WesleyLife’s engagement, health & well-being programs, and labor tracking systems to identify areas of focus and opportunity for the organization.
Participates in and/or leads WesleyLife’s engagement and work experience efforts.
Plans, delivers and reports on engagement and culture-building efforts across WesleyLife, presenting this information in written and verbal presentation format to leaders, executives and board members when requested.Advocates for – and then delivers through communication, training and monitoring – practices that will positively impact the work experience.
NSC People & Culture Support
Serves as the leader for the Network Support Center in Johnston, IA.
Supports all matters related to onboarding, performance management, leave management, employee relations, rewards management.
Leads Culture Committee to provide a variety of health and well-being, communication, and fun opportunities for the team.
Participate in budget planning.
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a similar field is required.
- HR certification is highly preferred.
- 6+ years of leadership experience in human resources.
- Previous experience with UKG is preferred.
- Must have exceptional working knowledge of general HR core competencies including but not limited to: employment regulations and laws, compliance practices, team member relations, total rewards.
- Prior experience in a senior living, health care or hospitality company is preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to effectively advise leaders on all matters related to people practices.
- Must be a champion of change demonstrating proactive, future-focused problem solving skills on matters related to the workforce and the achievement of our business objectives through our human resources.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills are required with the ability to effectively communicate (both verbally or in written form) with all levels of team members and leadership positions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to influence and negotiate effectively for the benefit of the team and the organization.
- Advanced project management skills are required.
- Strong data analytics experience - able to gather, interpret and apply the data to our HR practices and priorities.
Salary
$120,000-$150,000 based on experience
