Title: Director, OT, Automation, & SCADA Location: Spring, TX 77389 (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote) Duration: Direct Hire Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders, or Authorized to Work in the U.S. Job Description: This role provides strategic and operational leadership for all Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Automation, and SCADA infrastructure supporting midstream pipeline, terminal, compressor, pump station, storage, and measurement assets. The Director is responsible for the reliability, availability, cybersecurity, and lifecycle management of OT systems while ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, and alignment with enterprise IT. The position establishes OT architecture standards, oversees OT network infrastructure, cloud and remote connectivity, disaster recovery, and co-leads the convergence of IT and OT with the Director of IT Infrastructure, while maintaining appropriate security segmentation. The role ensures compliance with applicable PHMSA, DOT, TSA Security Directives (where applicable), API recommended practices, ISA/IEC-62443 cybersecurity frameworks, and other pipeline industry standards. Key Responsibilities:Provide enterprise ownership of OT, Automation, SCADA, ICS, historian, and communications systems supporting pipelines, terminals, storage, and field operations.Develop and execute the OT technology strategy, architecture standards, and multi-year roadmap.Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of OT networks including LAN/WAN, industrial Ethernet, firewalls, routers, switches, cellular, microwave, fiber, VPN, and secure remote access.Establish and maintain the IT/OT boundary using segmentation, zero-trust principles, and secure connectivity.Ensure compliance with PHMSA and DOT pipeline regulations, cybersecurity requirements, TSA pipeline security directives (where applicable), API standards, and internal governance.Lead OT cybersecurity initiatives including vulnerability management, patching strategy, incident response, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, startup, and integration of new pipeline facilities, compressor stations, terminals, and automation systems.Partners with Engineering, Operations, Integrity, Control Center, Cybersecurity, and IT to standardize OT solutions.Develop OT documentation including standards, network diagrams, asset inventories, procedures, and recovery plans.Lead, mentor, and develop OT engineers, SCADA engineers, automation specialists, and system administrators while managing vendors and system integrators.Monitor OT system performance and reliability, develop KPIs, and drive continuous improvement. Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in Operational Technology, Automation, SCADA, Industrial Control Systems, or industrial networking, including leadership experience.Experience supporting midstream pipeline, terminal, storage, or gas processing operations.Strong knowledge of industrial networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs).Experience with SCADA platforms, PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, historians, and industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC, MQTT, and IEC-60870 where applicable.Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, Azure/AWS, and virtualization technologies.Knowledge of PHMSA, DOT pipeline regulations, API standards, ISA/IEC 62443, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and OT cybersecurity best practices.Excellent leadership, communication, budgeting, and vendor management skills. Preferred QualificationsProfessional certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, GICSP, PMP, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or cloud certifications.Experience with leak detection systems, pipeline control center operations, and enterprise historian platforms. EducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Work ScheduleThis position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
