About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Regional Director, OpenBlue Delivery, Americas to lead the successful deployment and implementation of OpenBlue solutions across an assigned geographic region. This leader will be responsible for enabling JCI to grow the digital business by ensuring projects are executed safely, consistently, on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations while driving installation quality, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

The Regional Director will lead a team of approximately 10 direct reports, including 2 Regional Project Managers and 8 Project Engineers, responsible for delivering digital and connected building solutions across multiple customer sites. The role serves as a senior leader within the OpenBlue Delivery organization, overseeing project execution, workforce planning, resource management, financial performance, risk mitigation, and customer outcomes. In partnership with Sales, Solution Architects, Customer Success, Product, Field Operations, and other Delivery teams, the Regional Director ensures smooth sales-to-delivery transitions, consistent deployment practices, and successful customer implementations.

The role is responsible for developing delivery talent, driving continuous improvement, managing project and operational risks, implementing operational tools and processes, and scaling the regional delivery organization to support business growth. The role serves as a key operational leader within the OpenBlue Delivery organization and is responsible for building and managing a high-performing team that delivers exceptional customer outcomes while meeting safety, quality, schedule, revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction objectives.

Responsibilities

  • People Leadership
    • Lead and develop a team of approximately 10 direct reports, including Regional Project Managers and Project Engineers.
    • Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching, and support career development.
    • Build organizational capability through succession planning, talent assessment, and workforce planning.
    • Foster a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
  • Regional Delivery Management
    • Own regional deployment execution for OpenBlue projects from project handoff through customer acceptance.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with scope and quality requirements.
    • Monitor portfolio health and proactively address delivery risks, escalations, and resource constraints.
    • Direct regional capacity planning and workload balancing across project resources.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Establish and manage (both leading and lagging) key performance metrics, including:
      • On-time delivery
      • Installation quality
      • Project profitability
      • Resource utilization
      • Customer satisfaction
    • Collaborate with global peers to standardize delivery processes and tool usage across the business.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the digital business to effectively meet client, business, & team goals.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and project governance requirements.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Management
    • Act as a senior escalation point for customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Partner with regional sales leaders to support growth objectives and delivery commitments.
    • Build strong relationships with customers to ensure successful project outcomes and long-term engagement.
    • Support executive reviews and business performance discussions.
  • Financial Accountability
    • Manage regional project financial performance for portfolio (~ $50 Million dollar Construction / $20 Million SAAS services)
    • Track forecasts, project margins, and resource utilization.
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
    • Support annual operating planning and staffing forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading technical project delivery, installation, implementation, or professional services organizations.
  • 8+ years of personnel management / leadership experience.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent customer-facing projects across a large geographical region or business segment.
  • PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar certification preferred.
  • Strong financial, operational, and resource management skills.
  • Experience leading project managers, engineers, and technical delivery teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of smart buildings, controls, HVAC, energy management, and connected infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenBlue, building automation systems, digital building technologies, SaaS implementations, or IoT solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with project scheduling tools (Planview preferred).
  • Multilingual (French, English, & Spanish).

Pay

Salary range: $140,000 – $195,000 (final salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment). This role includes a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance.
