Director of Wellness

NorthPointe Woods, a Cardinal Senior Living community in Battle Creek, Michigan. Full-time position.

About the role

NorthPointe Woods is looking for a Director of Wellness who takes clinical excellence personally. This role is for a clinical leader who wants real ownership of resident care, clinical systems, documentation, medication management, team capability, and regulatory readiness. You will have the autonomy to use your expertise, the responsibility to build strong systems, and the expectation that your department operates with consistency and discipline.

Responsibilities

• Resident assessments and individualized care planning
• Changes in condition and appropriate clinical follow-through
• Medication management and medication-administration standards
• Clinical documentation and record accuracy
• Admissions, transitions of care, and level-of-care decisions
• Infection prevention and resident safety
• Regulatory readiness and clinical compliance
• Resident and family clinical communication
• Clinical staffing, onboarding, training, and competency
• Development and accountability of nurses, Med Techs, and care staff
• Coordination with physicians, pharmacies, home health, hospice, and other providers
• Identification and correction of recurring clinical or process gaps

Team leadership

Build a team that understands the standard and can execute it consistently. Coach through observation, documentation, clinical judgment, and results. Recognize strong performance, address gaps directly, and ensure employees understand both the task and the reason behind it. Create capability, not dependency.

Clinical leadership & operations

Partner closely with the Executive Director and community leadership to connect clinical performance with staffing and labor, resident retention, family experience, admissions and occupancy, risk and compliance, employee performance, and overall community execution. Bring clinical facts, sound judgment, and clear recommendations to the table.

Requirements

• Active LPN or RN license
• Senior living, assisted living, long-term care, or comparable clinical experience
• Previous clinical leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of assessments, care planning, medication management, documentation, and resident-care practices
• Experience coaching and developing nursing or care teams
• Strong regulatory and compliance awareness
• Excellent organization and follow-through
• Confidence making decisions within your scope and escalating appropriately when needed
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, employees, providers, and leadership
• Experience as a Director of Wellness, Director of Nursing, Wellness Director, Clinical Manager, or similar clinical leader strongly preferred
