About the role

The Director of the St. Augustine Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (StACIE) provides strategic leadership to advance the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus’s mission in innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development. The Director will drive the Centre’s vision, build partnerships, and foster an ecosystem that supports startups, research commercialization, and entrepreneurial education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic plan for StACIE that aligns with campus and regional priorities.
• Lead the Centre’s operations, including program development, budget management, and staff supervision.
• Cultivate relationships with industry, government, investors, and academic partners to expand opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Oversee incubation and acceleration programs, ensuring they provide high-value support to startups and early-stage ventures.
• Promote research commercialization and technology transfer initiatives.
• Design and deliver entrepreneurial education and training programs for students, faculty, and the broader community.
• Secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships to sustain and grow the Centre’s activities.
• Represent StACIE at local, regional, and international forums to enhance its visibility and impact.
• Monitor and evaluate the Centre’s performance, reporting progress to university leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, or a related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Proven leadership experience in innovation, entrepreneurship, or economic development, preferably in an academic or research institution.
• Strong track record in program development, partnership building, and fundraising.
• Experience in startup incubation, acceleration, or venture development.
• Knowledge of research commercialization, intellectual property, and technology transfer.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and engage diverse audiences.
