Director of Strategic Communications

Vanderbilt University · Nashville, TN · 1 mo ago
Full-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? Actually the posting includes Position Summary, About The Work Unit, Key Responsibilities (with sub-sections), Required Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Competencies. Also maybe Reporting Relationships? Not required but could be included if content. The instructions: Use

for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and

for prose. Do NOT repeat the job title as a heading. Do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short

or drop it. Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. IMPORTANT: include a section ONLY when the posting has real, specific content for it — never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. Thus we need to decide which sections to include. The posting includes: - Position Summary (could be "About the role" or maybe we can combine with About The Work Unit? The instruction says use headings like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we can map: - About the role: could be Position Summary + About The Work Unit? Or maybe separate: Position Summary as About the role, About The Work Unit as maybe part of About the role? But we can combine. - Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities (including sub-sections). Could be a single Responsibilities section with bullet lists. - Requirements: Required Qualifications. - Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications? Or maybe we treat Required Qualifications as Requirements, Preferred Qualifications as Qualifications? The instruction list includes Requirements and Qualifications as separate headings. So we can put Required Qualifications under

    Requirements

    , Preferred Qualifications under

    Qualifications

. - Skills: Skills and Competencies under

    Skills

. - Benefits, Pay, Schedule: Not present, so omit. Also maybe Reporting Relationships could be part of Responsibilities? But not needed. We must not repeat job title as heading. So no heading for "Director of Communications" etc. We need to preserve all substantive information. So we need to include all bullet points from Key Responsibilities sub-sections, Required Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Competencies. Also Position Summary and About The Work Unit prose. We need to format as HTML fragment only, no or . Use

    for headings,

    for prose,

    • for lists. We need to ensure we don't include filler like "commensurate with experience". Not present. We need to remove duplicated lines. Check for duplicates: The posting may have repeated sentences? Not obvious. We need to ensure we don't include boilerplate like EEO etc. Not present. Now craft HTML. Structure:

      About the role

Position Summary ... About The Work Unit ...

maybe combine. But we need to keep the content: Position Summary paragraph(s) and About The Work Unit paragraph(s). Could be two

      under same heading. Then

      Responsibilities

We need to list responsibilities. The Key Responsibilities includes several bullet-like sentences but not formatted as list. We need to convert to
      • . The sub-sections: Strategy, Faculty Visibility and External Recognition, Executive Communications, Brand, Digital, and Internal Communications, Media Relations, Programming, Collaboration, Team and Resource Leadership. Each has multiple sentences. We could treat each bullet as a responsibility item. Could also group sub-sections as headings inside? But instruction says use

for section headings only; we could still use

        for sub-sections? It says use

for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It doesn't forbid other headings, but to be safe we can just make a flat list of responsibilities. However we need to preserve all substantive information; we can keep the sub-section headings as part of the list item text (maybe bold?). But we cannot add arbitrary tags like ? Not prohibited but better to keep simple. Could embed the sub-heading as part of the
      • text. Thus for each responsibility bullet we can create
      • containing the sentences.
