Director of State Government Affairs (Texas-based)

About the role

Fortune 100 information technology company seeks a Director of State Government Affairs, reporting to the Senior Director, State Government Affairs. This role will work with corporate leadership and business units to represent company interests before state and local government officials to advance company policy priorities and other interests in Texas, including data center facilities. The position is based in Austin, TX (strongly preferred; other Texas locations considered) and involves approximately 20% travel. It is a senior individual contributor role (IC4) with no direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Support the company’s interests in Texas and adjacent states as needed, while also supporting the broader state and local government affairs team.
• Represent company interests with third‑party groups and at events.
• Monitor state and local policy impacting the company.
• Maintain a strong understanding of company operations to assess how external policy decisions may affect business initiatives.
• Understand the importance of the role to organizational success, work well across teams, and possess broad IT knowledge across business and policy priorities.
• Act as a self‑starter capable of managing multiple high‑priority issues simultaneously while driving results.
