Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering for Rove Shopping and Rove Dining across web, mobile, card-linking, backend, browser extension, merchant onboarding, partner integrations, and internal tooling.
- Own the technical architecture for merchant feeds, offer ingestion, attribution, click tracking, transaction tracking, rewards calculation, reversals, personalized offer delivery, and user-facing earning experiences.
- Build and scale direct merchant integrations, affiliate network integrations, card-linked offer platforms, dining networks, payment partners, merchant partners, and loyalty infrastructure providers.
- Develop Rove’s merchant onboarding portal, enabling merchants to launch offers, manage campaigns, review performance, configure rewards, and integrate directly with Rove.
- Build systems for personalized offers, including targeting, segmentation, offer ranking, experimentation, eligibility rules, and performance optimization.
- Develop reliable systems for transaction lifecycle management, including pending miles, confirmed miles, reversals, merchant exclusions, missing miles claims, and customer support workflows.
- Partner closely with product, design, operations, marketing, partnerships, and customer support to launch new earning products quickly and reliably.
- Set engineering standards for performance, observability, data accuracy, security, fraud prevention, and operational resilience.
- Build tools and dashboards that help Rove monitor merchant performance, offer quality, conversion, reward liability, fraud patterns, campaign performance, and partner economics.
- Improve the browser extension, shopping portal, dining product, merchant onboarding experience, and mobile shopping experiences to increase activation, conversion, merchant adoption, and repeat usage.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage engineers as the Shopping & Dining (Earn) engineering team grows.
- Balance speed and quality in a fast-moving startup environment while creating systems that can scale to millions of users, thousands of merchant campaigns, and billions in transaction volume.
Qualifications
- Strong engineering leadership experience, ideally managing or leading teams responsible for high-scale consumer, commerce, marketplace, fintech, loyalty, or rewards products.
- Deep backend engineering experience with a strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven architecture, and financial or rewards transaction flows.
- Experience building products involving transaction tracking, attribution, affiliate marketing, card-linked offers, payments, merchant data, personalized offers, direct merchant integrations, or consumer rewards.
- Strong product intuition and ability to translate complex partner, merchant, and operational requirements into simple, reliable user experiences.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with partnerships, operations, marketing, product, design, customer support, and merchant-facing teams.
- High ownership mindset with the ability to operate strategically while still diving into technical details.
- Strong understanding of data accuracy, reconciliation, fraud prevention, campaign measurement, and operational tooling.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing high-performing engineers.
- Exceptional problem-solving ability, communication skills, and attention to detail.
