Job Summary
MOGEL, on behalf of a leading edtech company, is seeking a hands-on Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale engineering teams building highly scalable, AI-native EdTech products used by millions of learners worldwide. This leader will drive engineering excellence, modernization initiatives, and AI-powered development practices while delivering secure, resilient, and high-availability platforms. The ideal candidate has deep experience architecting enterprise-scale B2C applications, leading high-performing engineering organizations, and leveraging AI tools and cloud-native technologies to accelerate software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams, including managers and senior engineers.
- Drive AI-native software development practices using tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot.
- Lead modernization and refactoring initiatives for complex legacy systems.
- Provide architectural leadership for scalable, secure, cloud-native applications.
- Remain hands-on with code reviews, technical design, and engineering best practices.
- Establish and improve SDLC processes, CI/CD, observability, testing, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Product and Business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Manage engineering delivery, platform reliability, scalability, and release quality.
- Lead Agile and Lean engineering practices across distributed teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 14+ years of software engineering experience.
- 6+ years of engineering leadership/management experience.
- Proven experience building high-scale, high-availability B2C platforms.
- Strong expertise in: React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Java, C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, REST APIs & Microservices.
- Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Strong AWS cloud experience.
- Experience with LLMs, MLOps, Data & AI platforms.
- Experience implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
