Director of Software Engineering
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This leader will own delivery for a major platform modernization effort, ensuring the organization executes with discipline, speed, and technical clarity. The role will work closely with Solution Architecture, Product, UX, Engineering, and QA/Automation to translate strategy into an actionable plan and keep cross-functional teams aligned. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership in enterprise SaaS, Azure cloud-native environments, and modern software delivery practices to help drive high-impact initiatives across the business.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Responsibilities
- Own overall delivery accountability for the platform modernization initiative
- Partner with Solution Architect to translate technical direction into a delivery plan
- Encourage fail-fast experimentation in spec-driven development and modern AI practices
- Directly manage Engineering and QA/Automation while collaborating with Product and UX
- Establish consistent delivery standards across Engineering, Product, and UX
- Identify and resolve cross-functional misalignment and blockers proactively
- Provide clear and candid program status updates to senior leadership
Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise SaaS environments
- 5+ years in a leadership role, managing multiple teams at the Director level or equivalent
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional programs from inception to completion with accountability
- Experience in identifying organizational risks proactively, not just reacting to problems
- Technical fluency in Azure cloud-native platforms and modern software architecture
- Strong executive communication skills with a comfort in ambiguity
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones

Pay
$184,000 – $231,000 annually
