Director of Sales & Marketing - EC

About the Role

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the overall resort-wide revenue and yield strategies, implementation, and results, including group and transient rooms, group food and beverage, meeting room rental, local catering, outlet, and other revenues. This role maximizes profitability for the resort while ensuring outstanding quality service for guests. The Director provides leadership to the sales team, participates in total resort management as a member of the Executive Committee, and is accountable for market performance, budget, forecast, and target goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the resort.
• Prepare, implement, and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly report, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts, and other reports as required.
• Develop rates, group ceilings, and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix management.
• Recruit, direct, manage, train, and counsel sales staff, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment and civil rights laws.
• Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
• Conduct/attend daily business review meetings, weekly strategic sales meetings, management meetings, and other meetings as required.
• Manage/direct all advertising, public relations, and promotional activities.
• Achieve and exceed group budgeted room nights and revenue goals annually.
• Analyze and estimate the total value of each piece of business and negotiate the best situation for achieving optimum revenue while ensuring excellent customer service.
• Develop and utilize the marketing plan to uncover new and potential business.
• Ensure accuracy in forecasting revenues with the most updated information.
• Assist Sales/Catering/Conference Services in obtaining necessary customer information and closing business, as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Five to seven years of sales and marketing leadership in a similar-sized luxury operation preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi required.
• Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budgetary analysis capabilities required.
• Extensive knowledge of sales and revenue management.
• Ability to assess/evaluate Associates’ performance fairly.
• Ability to recruit, supervise, train, and motivate multiple levels of managers.
• Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.
• Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit at a desk for at least 5 hours per day.
• Walking and standing are required for the rest of the working day, including traveling to and from meetings.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.

Pay

The pay scale for the Director of Sales & Marketing is $170,000.00 to $210,000.00. This range represents the base salary, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like.
