Director of Sales, Flow
About the role
Flow, the Industry Cloud Platform for Media and Entertainment, connects people and data across the media and entertainment production pipeline for faster content creation in the cloud. It allows the creative process to move freely, openly, and collaboratively. Artists, editors, and producers leverage Autodesk Flow to unlock their creativity, no longer slowed down by barriers and bottlenecks that often stifle the creative process.
Flow Capture provides a secure, cloud-based dailies and review platform that connects production and post-production. Flow Studio is an AI-powered 3D toolset that transforms live-action footage into editable CG scenes with no complex setup required.
This is a startup inside Autodesk, and it is not starting from zero. Flow Capture has a strong installed base across our enterprise accounts. Flow Studio has built a real customer base through self-serve, and the product has matured to the point where it carries serious value for larger creators and companies. What neither product has yet is a sales organization built for the segments they are moving into next.
Position Overview
As Director of Sales, you will build a sales organization from a blank page: two new teams. You will hire the first reps, write the first plays, and set the first quotas. You will also lead a cross-functional growth team with members from Marketing, Product, Strategy, and Sales. Focused on driving rapid growth in new sectors, this team will invent, test, and refine the GTM motions that scale Flow Capture and Flow Studio. The team runs in short cycles, kills what does not work, and doubles down fast on what does.
Building on the success of Flow Capture in Autodesk’s Enterprise accounts, this team will open an entirely new segment: mid-tier production companies. Enterprise accounts stay with our core enterprise sales team. Your field sales team owns the mid-tier from the first call, giving these customers a secure way to manage, review, and collaborate on high-value media across their distributed teams.
Flow Studio has built a strong customer base through product-led growth (PLG). As the product matures and delivers more value to larger creators and companies, you will build and lead an inside sales team to move that business upmarket. You will lead the growth team to build a well-tuned GTM motion that ranges from PLG/self-serve through sales-led motions depending on the account’s usage and size.
You will do this with startup autonomy and enterprise backing: no inherited playbook, no legacy pipeline, and a mandate to move faster than the org around you. The Director will report directly to the Vice President of Fusion Sales, working alongside the global leads of the Fusion Sales organization. Fusion operates in a similar fashion, combining a cross-functional growth team, inside and outside sales. This team has been driving outsize growth of Fusion for the past 8 years and will be great peers and collaborators sharing best practices from their experience scaling a similar business in the manufacturing industry.
Autodesk’s culture emphasizes curiosity, rapid innovation, and ownership. We believe in reimagining what is possible, taking smart risks, and pursuing results with urgency. Fusion and Flow amplify that with startup speed, bold goals, and a commitment to transforming our customers' workflows with cutting-edge solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead all Flow Capture and Flow Studio sales motions with inside and outside sales reps
- Create and execute a unified GTM strategy through your leadership of the sales teams and the cross-functional growth team
- Represent the business to senior leadership of the Media and Entertainment division on a regular cadence
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, strong pipeline hygiene, accurate forecasting, and operational discipline
- Develop, test, and refine repeatable sales plays that can scale first in the US, and then across other GEOs as the business accelerates
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven success leading multi-segment software sales organizations
- Experience scaling high-growth businesses with multiple selling motions and quota-carrying teams
- Ability to operate effectively across complex matrixed organizations and align competing priorities
- Deep sales leadership skills including coaching, deal inspection, pipeline strategy, and forecasting rigor
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, shape strategy, and drive cross-functional alignment
- A bias for action, competitive drive, and the ability to push teams to exceed expectations
- Comfort operating without a playbook, and the judgment to write one as you go
The Ideal Candidate
This role is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now than in your third interview.
You will not inherit a team, a territory model, a comp plan, or a proven motion. You will write all of them, some of them wrong, and you will be expected to find that out fast and fix it rather than defend it. You will carry a number while you are still building the machine that hits it. Priorities will change as the market teaches us things we do not know yet.
If you do your best work inside a mature org with clear precedent and stable plans, this will be a frustrating job.
If you have been waiting for the chance to build a GTM organization from zero, with the products, the market, and the executive backing already in place, this is the one.
How You Will Be Measured
- Flow Capture and Flow Studio revenue performance
- Pipeline creation, quality, and forecast accuracy across all sales motions
- Effectiveness of cross-functional leadership and alignment
- Team leadership, development, retention, and overall organizational health
Why Flow, Why Now
Flow is transforming how content creators and production teams create and collaborate on their projects. The business is expanding rapidly, and the GTM motion needs to evolve with its growth. As Director of Sales, Flow, you will lead the teams driving that transformation. You will shape strategy, build high performing teams, and deliver meaningful impact for customers and the business.
If you would rather build something than inherit it, we should talk.
