Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform claim management functions, including investigation and analysis.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new services and perform root cause analysis (RCA) for the system, including action plan tracking and facilitation.
  • Manage the Patient Safety Council and incorporate the corporate TERM program into the overall risk management program.
  • Collaborate with department directors and the executive team to implement corporate and facility risk reduction strategies.
  • Provide expertise on regulatory and compliance standards and processes.
  • Perform data analysis, reporting, and education related to risk management activities.
  • Apply techniques such as RCA, FMEA, and other quality tools.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS/DHS Regulations).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (required). Master's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of Risk Management experience; acute care experience preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience in a related field (preferred).
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and hospital software programs.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, CMS/DHS Regulations, and statistical analysis.
  • Six Sigma ("Lean") knowledge preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of hospital policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
