About the role
The Director of Respiratory Therapy works and supervises therapists in a wide variety of settings to evaluate, treat, and manage patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders. The Director participates in clinical decision-making and patient education, develops and implements respiratory care plans, applies patient-driven protocols, utilizes evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and participates in health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management. The role requires exercising considerable independent judgment, under the supervision of a physician, in the respiratory care of patients.
Responsible for scheduling, supervising, training, and coaching all Respiratory Therapists. Carries out all job responsibilities in alignment with the Hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Reports to the Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage Respiratory Therapists in various clinical settings.
- Evaluate, treat, and manage patients with respiratory illnesses and cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Participate in clinical decision-making and patient education.
- Develop and implement respiratory care plans using patient-driven protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
- Engage in health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management.
- Schedule, train, and provide coaching for Respiratory Therapists.
- Serve as a responding member of the code team.
- Attend all scheduled manager's meetings and trainings.
- Share stand-by and call-back coverage with the Respiratory Team (hours vary).
Requirements
- Active RRT license from the N.B.R.C.
- Pending application with the Board of Medical Examiners for Nevada State License.
- Nevada State Blood Gas Technologist License application submitted within 2 weeks of hire.
- Proven experience in supervising others and training therapists.
- Must pass required state and federal background checks per NRS 449 and NRS 200.
- Must relocate to Hawthorne, NV, and live within 15 minutes of the hospital's physical address (not a commutable position).
Experience in pediatric and neonatal intensive care is helpful but not required.

Pay
Salary: $114,400 - $135,200 annually, dependent on experience.
