Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides overall coordination of all activities and services provided by the therapy department.
- Communicates with the interdisciplinary team on the admission of patients/residents requiring skilled rehabilitative services and timeliness of screening process.
- Develops, maintains, and supervises other therapy team members’ compliance with effective system of therapy/treatment documentation which conforms to clinical and billing policies and procedures and meets requirements for third party payer documentation and reimbursement.
- Reviews and approves billing.
- Oversees the implementation of patient/resident care programs ensuring the effective utilization of therapy procedures and appropriate intensity of services.
- Determines and schedules staff relative to patient/resident needs to achieve therapy clinical and operational benchmarks.
- Keeps Administrator and Regional Rehab & Wellness Manager informed of open positions and recruitment needs.
- Responsible for maintaining therapy area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
- Participates in customer service programs, patient/resident referral marketing and business development as well as conferences, facility meetings, consultations, care plan meetings, and educational programs designed to improve patient/resident care and staff performance.
- Responsible for interviewing therapy candidates, conducting performance reviews, and managing the performance improvement process.
- Manages all members of the Rehab & Wellness staff.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of and compliance with the facility Compliance program, policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
- Ensures that all rehab employees under their direct supervision receive training in and comply with the facility Compliance program, policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
- As the manager, must administer appropriate disciplinary action for violations in the above in consultation with the facility Administrator.
- Ensures that fiscal, clinical and operational goals are achieved.
- Provides direct patient care, as necessary, in accordance with the job description for the discipline.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited professional therapy school and eligible for licensure in the state in which the program is located.
- Prior experience in long-term care and management is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible work hours to support state and federal resident care requirements.
