Director of Rehabilitation

Job Summary

The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for managing and supervising the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs, organizational fiscal requirements, and federal and state regulations. The Director of Rehabilitation achieves specific patient care, employee relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective management of staff, customers, and referral sources. Maintains professional conduct, including positive levels of interaction and rapport with facilities and clients. Represents the organization’s commitment to quality and service in all interactions and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Reports to the Regional Director of Operations.
• Assigns patient scheduling and departmental responsibilities as needed.
• Supervises, orientates, trains, evaluates, and counsels department employees to maintain high standards of performance and patient care.
• Affords assistance with the interview and hiring process for rehabilitation staff as needed.
• Ensures compliance with organizational and facility-specific policies and procedures.
• Ensures therapists and assistants maintain compliant, accurate, and timely documentation that meets regulatory and payor requirements.
• Communicates and coordinates department functions with other services to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Communicates effectively with administration regarding department goals, risks, outcomes, and performance.
• Participates in utilization review, quality assurance, care conferences, admission meetings, and rehabilitation meetings.
• Manages revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary expectations.
• Ensures timely and accurate assessment, reporting, and billing of services.
• Enhances clinical expertise and leadership skills through continuing education and professional development.
• Understands relevant payment models and ensures clinically appropriate delivery of services.
• Ensures compliance with infection control and environmental safety standards.
• Maintains confidentiality of organizational, facility, and patient information.
• Conducts oneself in an ethical, legal, and professional manner at all times.

Qualifications

• Degree in therapy from an accredited program.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a licensed therapist or therapy assistant.
• Appropriate licensure required for discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic internet navigation.
