About the role

The Montgomery Housing Authority (MHA) seeks a Director of Real Estate Development (DRED) to lead and manage its Public Housing, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Units, and other new construction properties totaling 1187 units. MHA also administers 3073 Housing Choice Vouchers. The agency employs a staff of 66 and is the third largest housing authority in Alabama, the largest affordable housing provider in Montgomery, and the preferred affordable housing provider in the River Region of Alabama.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Public Housing, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Units, and other new construction properties totaling 1187 units.
  • Administer 3073 Housing Choice Vouchers.
  • Report directly to the President / CEO of MHA.
  • Manage and supervise real estate investment portfolios, underwriting or finance, and real estate asset management / property management.
  • Include at least five (5) years of management / supervisory experience in the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration / Management, or closely related disciplines is required.
  • A Master’s degree in these same discipline areas is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of responsible management of real estate investment portfolios, underwriting or finance, and / or real estate asset management / property management.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $120,000. It is expected that the selected candidate will establish residency in Montgomery, Alabama.
