Director of Product, Content Intelligence & Growth
About the role
We're hiring a Director of Content Intelligence & Supply to own knowing our UGC corpus and growing it as a strategic asset. This is a new role reporting to the Chief Product Officer, created as content becomes central to our strategy. The UGC corpus—over 400 million user-uploaded documents—powers our consumer products and drives search and discovery.
You'll unify content intelligence (classification, metadata, quality, gaps) and content supply (uploads, conversions, contributor experience) under one leadership portfolio, connecting what we know about the corpus with how we grow it. Today these efforts run separately; your job is to integrate them into one roadmap and team.
You'll inherit an established team with dedicated engineering squads, embedded analysts, and applied ML capability, with room to shape the org's direction and future growth. We're looking for a product leader with data fluency—someone comfortable interrogating classification models, partnering with data science, and turning a massive UGC corpus into a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
- Know the corpus
- Own the content understanding roadmap: classification, enrichment, metadata, and quality across the UGC corpus.
- Drive corpus gap analysis: identify strengths, weaknesses, and differences between user-generated and partner content.
- Make the corpus legible to internal products (search, discovery, recommendations) and teams building on it.
- Set direction for classification and corpus-analysis work in partnership with applied ML, engineering, and data science.
- Grow the supply
- Own UGC supply end-to-end: uploads, conversions, and the contributor user experience.
- Unify content acquisition strategy across user-generated supply, partnerships, and related programs—coordinating strategy while execution stays with specialized teams.
- Connect supply to demand: partner with consumer product orgs to grow the corpus where it creates the most value for readers, learners, and subscribers.
- Build the knowledge infrastructure for AI
- Own the AI product foundation of the UGC corpus: segmentation, sampling, corpus description, and metadata/retrieval capabilities (scope limited to UGC, not premium catalogs).
- Partner with business development on evolving corpus intelligence needs.
- Lead and develop the team
- Lead senior product leaders and an established program with its own charter, engineering squads, and embedded analysts.
- Earn trust quickly, raise the bar, and multiply leadership within the team.
- Operate as a peer among directors and VPs: represent content strategy in executive conversations and connect corpus decisions to business outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, including 4+ years leading product teams or senior PMs.
- Depth in data-heavy product domains: ML/AI-powered products, search, recommendations, content platforms, or marketplaces.
- Genuine data fluency—credibly direct classification and corpus-analysis work and partner with applied ML/data science teams as an equal.
- Familiarity with data structures for AI training and content use.
- Experience with supply-side or two-sided product dynamics: creators, contributors, sellers, or content acquisition.
- A strategic operator who connects content decisions to business outcomes (licensing revenue, product quality, growth) and manages a portfolio-level roadmap.
- Strong communication and cross-functional leadership: comfortable operating with executives and setting priorities across teams you don’t directly manage.
- Experience with content licensing or B2B data products is a plus.
