About the role
Arvato is seeking an experienced Director of Procurement to oversee a team of procurement professionals responsible for $500m in annual purchases. Reporting directly to the CFO, the ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company-wide procurement function for inventory, capital equipment, supplies, and other requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of the site and project buyers, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and safety throughout the supply chain.
- Analyze current processes and team structure to identify areas for improvement in supply chain efficiency and overall performance.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics for measuring, comparing, or evaluating factors affecting the supply chain.
- Establish policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety, and implement subsequent changes to processes.
- Negotiate prices for raw materials and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
- Own the relationship with robotics, material handling, and automation vendors.
- Own the relationship with landlords and oversee the real estate portfolio.
- Monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements, and identifying and qualifying new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and be willing to accept additional responsibilities and roles as needed by the company.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization.
- High-level decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of the 3PL and supply chain management business.
- Ability to be flexible with time and priorities.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Experience in dealing with temp labor agencies.
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain/Logistics.
- 7+ years of direct supply chain experience with a demonstrated focus on driving cost reduction and supplier performance at a manager level or higher.
- ISO experience preferred.
- Must have a successful record of establishing a strong supplier base and proficiency in negotiating costs of goods and services.
- Must have demonstrated success in creating commodity strategies and a strong knowledge of master scheduling and planning.
