About the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this position is responsible for maintaining a high level of pharmacy services to patients of Kintegra Health. The Director of Pharmacy Services oversees pharmacy personnel, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and clerks, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. This role acts as a liaison between Kintegra Health and external programs, advises the Medication Assistance Program (MAP) office, and manages the 340b Prime Vendor Program. The position also involves training medical and clerical staff, providing advisory oversight to outlying clinics, and expanding access to essential medications.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, orients, coaches, supervises, instructs, and dismisses departmental personnel.
  • Supervises departmental personnel, including hiring, orientation, workload delegation, training, monitoring, scheduling, evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Prepares and dispenses medicines, chemicals, and pharmaceutical preparations according to written orders by authorized medical practitioners.
  • Reviews and revises the Policy and Procedure manual annually and as needed.
  • Delegates responsibilities effectively and coordinates department operations.
  • Develops and maintains pharmacy services in accordance with State and Federal regulations, accepted standards, professional practices, and organizational policies.
  • Initiates and implements Quality Improvement for the department.
  • Creates and maintains job descriptions and completes annual performance reviews for all employees in a timely manner.
  • Plans, supervises, coordinates, and executes all activities related to the pharmacy’s operations.
  • Utilizes PMG System for income and eligibility verification and EMR System for patient information and provider communication.
  • Assists with the training and setup of new pharmacies.
  • Provides strategic guidance to senior management on running, managing, and growing a pharmacy in an FQHC environment.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments in the pharmacy industry to assess their application to Kintegra Health’s infrastructure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand the English language.
  • Experience overseeing staff and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, industry practices, and safety rules.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • 3 years of pharmacy managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of medical office software for updating patient demographic information, posting charges, and payments.
  • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
  • Ability to maintain patient and company confidentiality.
  • Ability to function as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Active NC Board of Pharmacy License.

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of computer software utilized in practice, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
