Director of Pharmacy (DOP - Pharmacist)

About the role

The Director of Pharmacy (DOP / Pharmacist) leads the clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of the hospital pharmacy at Select Specialty Hospital - Southeast Ohio (Newark).

Responsibilities

• Correctly prepares all drugs and chemicals.
• Ensures compliance with standards of The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory bodies.
• Manages and administers the Adverse Drug Reaction Program.
• Develops and participates in new employee training and education programs.
• Participates in quality assurance programs related to drug utilization and effectiveness.
• Participates in patient drug therapy monitoring.
• Develops at least one (1) clinically oriented program a year, such as Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Patient Counseling, Pain Management Services, or Nutritional Support Service.
• Promotes an environment of continuous quality improvement.
• Teaches and counsels patients and their families.

Requirements

• Requires successful completion of all educational requirements as mandated for state licensure.
• A minimum of three (3) years of hospital experience within the last 5 years.
• BLS if required by State.
• Maintain a current license in the state of practice.

Qualifications

• Pharm D or BS Pharm plus advanced degree or completion of hospital pharmacy residency is preferred.
• One (1) year in a managerial role preferred.
• Prefer Board Certification and/or Residency.
