Responsibilities
- Monitor treatment planning, progress, and performance.
- Model and advise students on professionalism and patient management techniques.
- Assist the Patient Care Coordinators in solving patient related problems.
- Review each student's performance in the periodontal clinic on a regular basis.
- Aids students in establishing and reaching patient treatment goals.
- Determines individual student needs and related time utilization.
- Aids students in rendering care to patients.
- Demonstrates procedures to students as needed.
- Reports instances of misconduct as appropriate.
- Ensures adequate clinical coverage by approving faculty time away in all clinical practices.
- To ensure calibration and the practice of clinical faculty in:
- Clinical protocols in clinical areas.
- Infection Control Compliance.
- Reviews student activity as required.
- Oversees Clinical Formative and Summative Examination Process.
- Attends periodic meetings with other Directors or Clinical Practice Leaders.
- Possible membership on the Clinical Policy Committee.
- Possible membership on the Year 3-4 Student Academic Promotion Review Committee (SAPRC 3-4).
- Stays abreast of faculty operations within the periodontal clinic, ensuring appropriate coverage, administrative support when needed, and resolves any clinical issues.
Qualifications
- Required: D.D.S./DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school or equivalent; Certificate of training and educationally qualified from an ADA-accredited specialty program; Dental License Registration; must be eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico.
- Preferred: Previous teaching experience; DEA number; Board Eligible or Certified; Track record of scholarly activity and outstanding patient care; Engagement and familiarity in curriculum development and digital dentistry technology; Experience in faculty calibration.
