Director of Patient Safety & Clinical Risk Management
Job Summary
This is a backfilled position responsible for Risk Management and Patient Safety for a large medical center. The role involves leading a Situation Management Team, overseeing TEAM STEPPS & Just Culture planning and implementation, and managing the DMC Patient Safety Data Center. Responsibilities also include overseeing critical risk management projects, maintaining a culture of continuous learning, and implementing new processes.
About the Role
Oversees the operation of multiple units within a department, identifies member and operational needs, ensures work assignment completion, translates business strategy into actionable business requirements, and ensures products and/or services meet member requirements and expectations while aligning with organizational strategies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serves as the subject matter expert for clinical quality improvement processes and regulations for regions, internal and external committees, and key stakeholders.
- Directs the quality of care complaints and review process.
- Oversees infection prevention and control programs.
- Directs risk management efforts.
- Oversees patient safety programs and initiatives.
- Oversees development of new clinical quality improvement programs.
- Oversees the systems, procedures, and forms to improve data management programs.
- Oversees regulatory audits and survey efforts.
- Oversees the evaluations of the cost effectiveness, practicality, and appropriateness of medical care given to patients.
Qualifications
- CPHRM certification and CA RN license, acute care hospital experience, TEAM Stepps experience.
- TJC (The Joint Commission) and CMS Survey experience preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
- Minimum seven years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Minimum five years of experience with databases and spreadsheets.
- Minimum four years of experience delivering training programs.
- Minimum seven years of experience in a clinical setting, health care administration, or a directly related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field AND minimum seven years of health care experience or a directly related field OR minimum ten years of experience in health care or a directly related field.
- Professional in Healthcare Risk Management Certificate within 24 months of hire.
- Professional Healthcare Quality Certificate within 24 months of hire.
