Director of Outreach (Nonprofit / Healthcare Partnerships)

About the Role

A nonprofit organization that has provided free commercial air travel for children needing specialized medical care for over 40 years is hiring a Director of Outreach to lead and expand its national healthcare referral ecosystem and family experience programs. Since 1985, the organization has covered more than 100 million miles connecting families with board-certified medical providers and accredited treatment facilities across the United States.

The Director of Outreach cultivates strategic relationships with healthcare providers, treatment sites, professional associations, advocacy organizations, and other mission-aligned partners to connect eligible families to services. Through scalable systems, strategic partnerships, and exceptional relationship management, the role ensures the referral ecosystem continues to expand so more families can access specialized medical care regardless of geographic or financial barriers. The position supervises outreach staff and reports within the Impact Division.

Responsibilities

• Developing and executing annual mission outreach plans, objectives, and performance measures
• Cultivating and strengthening long-term referral partnerships with hospitals, treatment centers, specialty clinics, and healthcare systems
• Building trusted relationships with social workers, patient navigators, nurse coordinators, financial counselors, case managers, and physicians
• Identifying underserved geographic regions, clinical specialties, and emerging healthcare opportunities for expanded outreach
• Managing organizational memberships, conference participation, speaking engagements, and industry engagement
• Establishing and maintaining family experience service standards ensuring timely, compassionate, and consistent communication throughout each family's journey
• Developing family ambassador and peer engagement programs
• Implementing systems for gathering, analyzing, and acting on family feedback
• Monitoring referral ecosystem performance, analyzing trends, and developing dashboards and reports
• Supervising the Outreach Specialist and other outreach staff or interns
• Partnering with communications, philanthropy, and enterprise teams on cross-functional initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, marketing, business administration, or a related field
• Five or more years of experience in outreach, healthcare partnerships, nonprofit leadership, business development, community engagement, or relationship management
• Experience building strategic partnerships and managing external relationships
• CRM experience strongly preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Exceptional relationship-building abilities and executive presence
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization abilities
• Analytical thinking and data interpretation skills
• Ability to build credibility with healthcare professionals and nonprofit partners
• Travel to conferences, partner meetings, and organizational events as needed
