Director of Operations

About the role

The Operations Director at McLane leads and guides DC operational functions including Transportation, Warehousing, facilities management, building layout, racking and systems, inventory management, and quality assurance. They are responsible for developing strategies, managing projects, ensuring compliance, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement business planning and supply chain strategies
• Coordinate with Corporate Operations Support staff to improve service levels and KPIs
• Provide leadership for the Transportation and Warehouse departments
• Communicate status of activities and results regularly
• Ensure representation and address concerns of all affected locations and interests
• Develop and recommend alterations to procedures and best practices
• Understand, articulate, and execute all QA criteria

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in foodservice distribution, preferably in the QSR sector
• Accounting, planning, and analytical experience required
• PREFERRED: Experience with Manhattan, AS/400 systems, JDE, EXCEL, Microsoft Word, and Access programs; XATA, PeopleNet or similar programs
• Detailed understanding of financial statements and cost implications
• Experience using IT systems to generate and evaluate key performance data
• Experience with multi-shift, 6- to 7-day operations
• Management experience with large DC and driver workforces (200+)
• Ability to cultivate and manage customer relationships
• Ability to read, write, and understand English to perform job tasks effectively
