Responsibilities
- IT Leadership:
- Maintain the school’s technology roadmap and strategic initiatives.
- Align technology projects with organizational priorities.
- Evaluate systems and recommend improvements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technology issues.
- Maintain IT standards, policies, and best practices.
- Provide leadership and mentoring for IT support staff and contractors.
- Project Management & A-Z Ownership:
- Own technology projects from concept through implementation, adoption, training, and support.
- Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, software implementations, and system migrations.
- Coordinate stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
- Track project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Present updates and recommendations to leadership.
- Actively participate in day-to-day system operations.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technology vendors and managed service providers.
- Lead cybersecurity programs and risk reduction initiatives.
- Manage endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Conduct security assessments and ensure compliance with policies.
- Vendor Management & Resource Management:
- Manage vendor performance, contracts, and service-level agreements.
- Lead vendor evaluations and technology selection processes.
- Coordinate vendor troubleshooting and installations.
- Monitor technology expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- IT Operations & Infrastructure:
- Oversee daily IT operations across both campuses.
- Manage network infrastructure, wireless systems, servers, and cloud services.
- Ensure reliability of Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and learning management systems.
- Maintain inventory, lifecycle planning, and deployment of technology assets.
- Update and maintain technology documentation.
- Physical Security Technology:
- Oversee camera systems, access control, visitor management, ID card systems, and emergency notification systems.
- Coordinate vendor support for physical security technologies.
- Training & Communication:
- Lead technology training for faculty and staff.
- Develop user guides and internal documentation.
- Create organization-wide technology communications.
- Present updates, training sessions, and cybersecurity awareness programs.
- Research & Innovation:
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Research and pilot new technologies to improve operations and educational outcomes.
- Build business cases and recommendations for leadership review.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of progressive IT experience.
- 1-2 years of experience managing technology projects and vendor relationships.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, networking, endpoint management, and cloud-based systems.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating technical documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in K-12 education or nonprofit technology.
- Project Management certification (PMP, CAPM, Agile, or equivalent).
- Experience with Meraki networking systems.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and best practices.
- Experience managing managed service providers (MSPs).
- Knowledge of physical security technologies, including access control and surveillance systems.
Pay
Annual salary range: $100,000 - $125,000.
Work Environment
This role operates in a school setting across multiple buildings with elevators. The Lower School is located on the 4th floor of one building, and the Upper School spans the 1st, 5th, and 6th floors of another. The administrative suite is in a separate location. The role requires regular walking between locations and occasional travel between campuses approximately two blocks apart.
