Director of Operational Alignment
About the role
The Director of Operational Alignment serves as a strategic leader responsible for advancing campus-wide organizational transformation, operational modernization, and administrative effectiveness in support of the university's academic, research, and public service mission.
Responsibilities
Assess and redesign administrative and business processes impacted by Financial Management Modernization (FMM) implementation; coordinate cross-functional operational alignment efforts;
Support organizational readiness and adoption; identify opportunities for standardization and simplification;
Help establish sustainable operational structures that maximize the long-term effectiveness and value of the FMM project;
Evaluate organizational structures, business operations, and service delivery models to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, improved coordination, and enhanced institutional effectiveness;
Collaborate with university leadership, faculty governance bodies, finance and human resources leaders, research administration, information technology, and operational units to design and implement sustainable future-state operating models;
Leverage data analytics, financial modeling, process improvement methodologies, organizational assessment tools, and emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence and automation solutions—to develop strategic recommendations that support modernization while preserving service quality and mission alignment;
Establish governance frameworks that monitor operational effectiveness, evaluate implementation outcomes, address emerging institutional needs, and guide continuous improvement efforts across administrative and operational functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business administration, public administration, higher education administration, organizational leadership, finance, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-9 years of progressively responsible professional experience in organizational effectiveness, operational strategy, administration, business operations, finance, institutional planning, or related leadership functions.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives, organizational transformation efforts, enterprise system implementations, or operational improvement projects within a large and complex organization.
- Experience conducting financial, operational, and workforce analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience with process redesign, operational change management, or administrative transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of organizational effectiveness, process improvement methodologies, and operational assessment practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership, faculty, staff, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong analytical, project management, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and lead initiatives in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Leveran Six Sigma certification (green or black belt) desired.

Pay
The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $168,000 to $190,000/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience, the budget for the position, and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
