Job Duties

  • Cook up and oversee the nursing service department and its programs and activities according to current rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, healthcare providers, and staff to deliver high-quality care and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and support the nursing staff.
  • Coordinate, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing services.
  • Develop and maintain methods for integrating nursing services with other resident services, including external providers.
  • Participate in facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Collect, review, and analyze clinical outcome data to identify trends.
  • Attend and present clinical outcome data trends at the QAPI committee meetings monthly.
  • Contribute to the QAPI Committee in creating and implementing corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
  • Assist in planning for resident admissions and discharges, including external assessments and medication reviews.
  • Oversee medication management in the community, including educating residents, families, and staff.
  • Serve on and participate in various committees of the facility as appointed by the Executive Director.
  • Determine and monitor staffing needs for the nursing department and assign appropriate numbers of staff daily.
  • Analyze and approve annual nursing services policies and procedures.
  • Select clinical support candidates, such as nurses, CHHA's, and CMA's, with the Executive Director's approval.
  • Conduct yearly written performance evaluations of all nursing staff.
  • Create and conduct in-service training programs related to the nursing department.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for resident care.
  • Ensure medical and nursing care aligns with residents' wishes and individualized care plans.
  • Prepare, plan, and adhere to the nursing services budget.
  • Preserve the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Treat residents with dignity and respect, ensuring resident rights are maintained.
  • Maintain relationships with residents, their families, and support departments to plan for residents' needs, including regular care conferences.
  • Job Requirements

    • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing institution.
    • A valid Registered Nurse license within the state of employment.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification.
    • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Assisted Living communities.
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with residents, families, and staff.
    • A deep understanding of senior care needs.
    • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
    • Strong clinical assessment skills.
