Director of Nursing RN
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews daily work assignments to ensure they meet regulatory compliance and provide consistent staffing whenever possible.
- Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action, as needed.
- Responsible for recruitment, training, clinical orientation, supervision, scheduling, time cards, and personnel issues in the nursing department.
- Participates with the Medical Consultants and the Administrator in the selection of all potential new admissions to the facility and assess items needed in the facility to meet the new resident’s needs, admission, retention, and discharge of residents.
- Ensures physicians make visits as required.
- Ensures necessary equipment, supplies, and staffing are available for the delivery of the prescribed resident/patient care.
- Manages the nursing department budget and provides Administrator with budgetary planning information related to equipment needs and staffing.
- Completes rounds of the facility at least daily to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Collaborates with the Administrator in the planning of staff development programs that will enhance staff knowledge in providing quality resident care.
- Safeguards the RAI/IPOC process for each resident/patient is carried out on a timely basis.
- Works with regional personnel to continuously improve the quality of resident/patient care.
- On call 24 hours a day for nursing emergencies. If out of town/not available, designates a qualified nurse to assume such duties. The designee must be approved by the Administrator and appropriate facility personnel notified.
- Provides oversight in maintaining, monitoring and evaluation of records and designation of nursing programs essential in the care of the residents.
- Strategically plans or program development for improved outcomes to reduce unnecessary returns to acute care.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven strong management skills, including delegating responsibility to subordinates, performance management, conflict management, and leading through others.
- Good financial and management skills.
- Able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Education and Experience
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license with the state required.
- Prior DON experience of at least three years preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Minimal potential for exposure to environmental hazards.

About the Role
Villa at Pine Place is seeking a Director of Nursing RN to join their team! The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, supervision and evaluation of all the nursing and therapy services provided in the facility. Ensures nursing department compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, implementation of company nursing core programs, orientation and training of nursing services personnel, and budget management.
Qualifications
The Director of Nursing RN position requires a current RN license with the state, current CPR certification, and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Prior DON experience of at least three years is preferred.
