Responsibilities
- Provide personal care to residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing staff.
- Ensure nursing services are provided 24/7.
- Establish and maintain job specifications for nursing staff.
- Address and support cultural practices without harming others or interfering with medical therapy.
- Recommend modifications to nursing staffing plans.
- Document and report accidents or incidents according to company policies and regulations.
- Represent nursing staff on various committees.
- Participate in performance improvement functions.
- Collaborate with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach to resident care.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments on all residents.
- Evaluate licensed nurses' abilities to assess and reassess residents.
- Adequately assess and reassess residents’ pain, using appropriate pain management techniques, and educate residents and families on pain management.
- Promote and support residents’ independence.
- Assure a safe and clean environment for residents, family members, and staff.
- Report any malfunctions of equipment to supervisors.
- Lead and model teamwork.
- Notify physicians of changes in resident’s condition and follow through until appropriate action is taken.
- Implement the resident's plan of care based on assessments and goals.
- Attend required meetings.
- Plan and coordinate with the Administrator for budgeting requirements.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures and supervise supportive staff.
- React decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Nursing management experience required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their family members, and all levels of the organization.
- React decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
