Director of Nursing

About the role

The Registered Nurse will administer and manage Nursing Services for residents according to physicians' orders and residents' comprehensive needs. This role includes 24-hour supervision of Nursing Services and directing the Nursing Department to uphold quality care standards in line with Federal, State, and company guidelines. In the absence of the Administrator, the Director of Nursing assumes responsibility for the center's operations. The position involves conducting the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee total care plans for each resident, ensuring compliance with physician’s orders, governmental regulations, and facility policies.
• Communicate and interpret nursing policies and procedures to staff, and monitor their implementation.
• Participate in all admissions decisions and may evaluate prospective residents before admission.
• Attend daily and weekly management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident concerns.
• Additional duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Associate or Bachelor Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
• Five years of experience in long-term or acute healthcare preferred.
• At least two years of nursing supervisory experience required.
